Summary |
Though most people think of heart disease as a man's disease, it is in fact a leading killer of women. Wisdom of the Heart is a compelling documentary that challenges the myths of women's immunity, shows how heart disease manifests itself differently in women and how it can be prevented. The film shows how certain diagnostic biases have resulted in women being misdiagnosed, treatment being delayed, and until very recently, women being left out of research trials altogether. Experts such as Dr. Donna Stewart, from The Toronto Hospital, and cardiologist Dr Lorretta Daniel explain various treatments for heart disease and the importance of prevention. We met women who have undergone bypass surgery and open-heart surgery and see how heart disease affects the whole family and changes their lives |
