Summary |
This example focuses on an approach to the analysis of data called discourse analysis. The approach taken here is to apply discourse analysis to interview transcripts. This example focuses on the role that language plays in constructing an understanding and depiction of a particular role: that of the guidance tutor in a Higher Education setting. The example follows four basic steps: reading transcripts, identifying themes, identifying the language that constructs those themes, and identifying commonalities in the use of language in relation to each theme |
