The Queensland Department of Education assumed responsibility for education of students of the fourteen primary schools of the outer islands of the Torres Strait in January 1985; this report sets out the context of education; describes the curriculum processes and support services; identifies the educational expectations and aspirations held by the people of the Torres Strait; provides perceptions of the relevance and effectiveness of the education received as well as suggestions for improvement
