Summary |
This case study presents an account of the My Lai incident which occurred during the Vietnam War, in which US military personnel were responsible for the death of 500 unarmed civilians. Hugh Thompson, an army helicopter pilot, opposed the killing and took action to save as many civilians as possible, alongside his crew members. However, it was not until the late 1990s that his efforts were recognized and rewarded. Readers are asked to consider why it might take an organization such as the US military, so long to both admit its guilt and to reward moral courage |
