Summary |
Featuring more cameo performances by Hollywood's finest including Orlando Bloom, David Bowie, Chris Martin and Sir Ian McKellan, the acerbic comedy from Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, creators of the double Golden Globe winner The Office, returns for a second series. After years as a struggling actor determined to make it big, Andy Millman lands a BBC pilot for his sitcom script - When the Whistle Blows. But will it turn out to be the big breakthrough he always dreamed about? He's trying to make a classy sitcom that will stand the test of time. The BBC has different ideas, being more interested in silly wigs and chasing ratings. It's time for Andy to take a stand. What started as something personal and truthful becomes an embarrassment as big glasses and curly wigs suddenly become the height of comedic wit, and Andy's integrity is on the line. Does he bite his tongue and carry on regardless or jump ship and go back to being a lowly extra? |
