Probably the earliest surviving Maori writing of significant size, this is an account by Renata Kawepo Tama Ki Hikurangi of an arduous journey undertaken in 1843-1844, when he was among Bishop Ausgustus Selwyn's party visiting Anglican miision posts throughout the North Island and Nelson province
