Audit report (Australian National Audit Office) ; 1997-98, no. 39
Summary The Child Support Agency (CSA), together with the Dept. of Social Security, Centrelink and the Attorney-General's Dept., administer the Child Support Scheme. The main aim of the scheme is to ensure that separated parents share in the cost of the support of their children. The ANAO found that the CSA has made substantial improvements to its operations since the previous audit in 193-94. Opportunities for the Agency to build on these improvements were identified during the audit. The Agency has introduced significant initiatives to improve client service and staff development. It has also taken action to manage debt collection operations better. The Agency continues to face a major challenge in managing and reducing child support debt
