Summary |
Chukotka, on the Bering sea, is home to the Chukchi people. Over the years, director Frederic Tonolli has developed a close link with the inhabitants of Ouelen, a village of 500 souls, lost at the end of the world. They are the 'children of the whales' according to a local legend and their life is bound up in the eternal cycle of a splendid nature, harsh polar winters, whale hunt, fishing and ... survival. Tonolli has been sharing 14 months of the lives of Andrei, Volodia and the others, observing first hand, how modern life is taking its toll, destroying their language and age-old traditions |
