Summary This volume is designed for the scholar and serious student of anthropology, but will reward the "general reader" and the new-comer in the fields of anthropology and archaeology. The book is the result of years of study and exploration by Dr. Cole in that region, which he began in 1905, and is a scientific study of anthropology of the peoples in the area known as Malaysia. His discussion of the peoples in the Philippines, Borneo, Bali, Sumatra, and Java demonstrate the diversity to be found in the peoples who inhabit the Earth. It has been said that the best study of man is Man. It is also said that the most interesting, perhaps the most sublime fields of study in this world are the studies of People. "The Peoples of Malaysia," presents, as only Dr. Cole can, "the engrossing and timely story of the customs, manners, and ways of life of the peoples of the Philippines, the Dutch East Indies, and British Malaya."
