Summary As one of the first books to address directly the political implications of increasing interdependence, this volume will be welcomed by students and researchers of international relations, political economy and the European Community
Politics in an Interdependent World addresses the emergence of interdependence as the central distinguishing feature of global political relations. The modern world is so interconnected that the old divisions between domestic and international politics are no longer sustainable. Even the strongest states appear to have lost some of their autonomy. This important volume features a series of essays written by an internationally acclaimed group of political scientists, anthropologists, historians and political advisers whose views range from those who enthusiastically welcome the move to interdependence to more sceptical voices. They question whether we are heralding 'one world politics' or 'a world in pieces'. Inspired by the work of Ghita Ionescu, this volume addresses issues concerned with global and transnational institutions, international finance, democracy and federalism, ethnicity and the failure of Marxism
