Fuzzy modelling has been used for the identification of salinity risk on the Wimmer Plains. Spatial Correlation index (c) calculations of salinity risk (at 100%) versus mapped salinity resulted in c=0.32. While this result may initally appear poor, the salinity risk calculation is a function of landform (i.e. topography, soil) and is independent of land use or climatic factors. This may have caused the training data set (mapped salinity) to be skewed to show less area of land affected by soil salinisation than the potential extent (i.e. salinity prevention works)
