| Summary |
"Throughout the 20th Century, the football grounds of Eastern Europe became battlegrounds, as ruthless politicians tried to use football to lend legitimacy to communist rule. We see the Starostin brothers of the Spartak club arrested on bogus charges because the president of the rival club, Dinamo Moscow, happened to be the feared secret police chief, Lavrenti Beria (who, naturally, detested all opposition). We follow the story of the Hungarian team and the Miracle of Bern. We see Edward Streltsov, the Russian Pele, being ruined by the authorities for his too liberal attitude, and witness German football being divided by the Berlin Wall.
