Summary |
Reminiscing about her performing career, which began with the American Negro Ballet of Eugene van Grona, Ballet Theatre, and the Katherine Dunham company, Lavinia Williams recalls the prejudice that blacks had to face first in obtaining ballet training, then in maintaining their careers. She also danced in musical comedies and films, notably Finian's rainbow and Carnival of rhythm. She discusses her work in Haiti, where she lived for 27 years |
