Summary The basic drive to discover who we are and where we come from is at the core of this series with Henry Louis Gates Jr. In this episode, Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick discover that they have something in common; they each had ancestors who opposed slavery. Bacon's Quaker forebears rejected slavery in 1780; and a Sedgwick ancestor argued and won the 1781 Mumbet case, which helped end slavery in Massachusetts.
