In their new monograph, Gender and Short Fiction: Women's Tales in Contemporary Britain, Jorge Sacido-Romero and Laura M Lojo-Rodriguez explain why artistically ambitious women writers continue turning to the short story, a genre that has not yet attained the degree of literary prestige and social recognition the novel has had in the modern period. Jorge Sacido-Romero is Senior Lecturer in English at the University of Santiago de Compostela (Spain), where he teaches English literature. His most recent publications on the short story include Modernism and Postmodernism in the English (Rodopi, 2012), ̀Ghostly Visitations' in Atlantis 2016 and ̀Liminality in Janice Galloway's Short Fiction' ZAA (2018). Laura M Lojo-Rodriguez is Senior Lecturer in English at the University of Santiago de Compostela (Spain), where she teaches English literature and Gender Studies Her most recent publications on the short story include "Magic Realism and Experimental Fiction: From Virginia Woolf to Jeanette Winterson" in The Oxford Handbook to Virginia Woolf (OUP; forthcoming 2018) and "Monica Ali's Alentejo Blue: Tourists at a Cultural Crossroads", Miscelanea 2018 |
