Summary |
Set in 1938 Colonial India, against Mahatma Gandhi's rise to power, Water tells the story of Chuyia, an Indian girl married and widowed at eight years old, who is sent to a home where Hindu widows must live out there lives in penitence. Chuyia's feisty presence affects the lives of the other residents, including a beautiful young widow, who falls in love with a Gandhian idealist |
