Summary The rapid change in technology has worked as a catalyst for designing jobs in a non-traditional way for any kind of organization. Leveraging on a technology solution, Hybrid Virtual Office Space, BanglaCAT, an authorized dealer of Caterpillar Inc. USA, has been piloting a solution to its ever increasing problem of improving employee work-life balance. With BanglaCAT being one of the largest companies in Bangladesh's energy sector, employees are mainly engineers who mostly work in the field outside of the office. Traditionally, these employees are expected to clock-in at the office in the morning, work at a client's location during the day, then return to the office during the evening in order to clock-out. The time and effort required to travel to the office twice each day, plus travel to and from the client, created a huge problem for employees given Dhaka's congested traffic and the remote locations of client sites. To address these problems, Hybrid Virtual Office Space is aimed at eliminating the need to visit the office just to swipe cards for attendance. However, the new solution poses a number of challenges. For example, implementing the system requires training almost all of the employees to make them comfortable with the new system, which is time consuming. And not all employees are ready to accept such massive changes in the work process. If BanglaCAT fails due to employee resistance to change, the transition from a traditional to advanced work process will fail and all the efforts will be in vain. Students are asked to address several issues involved in implementing the new system. This case will help students understand how employee resistance to change should be handled and other related human resource issues concerning change management
