Summary Two years ago, Barky escapes the torment of his drunken and abusive father and headed for the Queensland cane fields, leaving everything that was important to him - his brother, his girlfriend, his life. Now that his father is dead, Barky returns to Sydney, to find his brother Wace, resentful and bitter. Barky soon discovers that if staying home was hard, coming back is even harder. In the Kings Hotel, beer, anger and pain prove to be a dangerous cocktail that sparks a fight between the brothers who are fuelled by rage and a burning need to seek some sort of understanding of life after a death
