Summary |
Mr. Rajesh Jain, GM, Operations, Jindal South West SCPL, had been tasked to design an internal logistics plan for the proposed production expansion. Before devising new plan, he wanted to analyse existing internal logistic activities thoroughly. The challenge ahead was to calculate the minimum number of trucks required for both procurement and dispatch operations within the plant and outbound logistics. Moreover, he had to identify the stations within the plant that needed expansion to ensure seamless movement of material. This use case can be used to teach process flow analysis; identify and eliminate capacity constraint/s and conduct resource planning in operations management and SCM courses in the post-graduate programme in management and/or industrial management |
