Summary |
This documentary follows the creation of Bahok, a collaboration between the Akram Khan Company under the direction of acclaimed choreographer Akram Khan, and the National Ballet of China.Bahok is an exploration of individual cultural stories that reveal a universal truth and was named after a Bengali word meaning 'carrier'.The relationship between classical ballet dancers and contemporary dancers reveals their deepest, most intimate side. They act out their attempts to communicate through dramatic dance and spoken vocabulary, waiting out their airport limbo. Their destination is unknown. The dance carries a poetic message where a sense of home and belonging in a globalised world is experienced as a simple relationship to the here and now.PRODUCTION DETAILS:Producer: Farooq Chaudry.
