Summary |
Obesity is a major health problem. The World Health Organisation has called the increase in overweight and obesity a "global epidemic". The National Health Survey 2007-08 found that 68% of adult men and 55% of adult women are overweight or obese in Australia. Australia is now one of the fattest developed nations. Although overweight and obesity are a problem in all populations groups, people living in rural and remote areas, the socioeconomically disadvantaged, Indigenous Australians and some ethnic minorities are more vulnerable |
