Summary "The eight articles compiled here probe leading conceptual and policy-relevant questions related to emerging arms control challenges of the new millennium. One set of articles looks at the ongoing challenges posed by Iran's nuclear activities and aspirations following the conclusion of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action. Other articles examine evolving notions of deterrence and strategic stability at the global level over the past decade, and their implications for security in Europe and the Middle East, with special attention to how they affect Israel's strategic calculations. Among the issues explored are Iran's missile program, left outside the JCPOA; inspections at suspect sites in Iran; civilian nuclear programs in the Middle East; NATO deterrence strategy, particularly in the face of new challenges from Russia; US missile defense plans as perceived by the Czech Republic; new challenges for Israeli deterrence; and strategic stability for Israel in a Middle East context and in the framework of the global debate on arms control"--Publisher's web site
