The United States and the international community must consider how to constrain Iran’s pursuit of a nuclear deterrent in a post-JCPOA world, in which Iran has never been closer to achieving a bomb. In October, 2022 the CNAS Middle East Security program designed and ran a scenario exercise to identify key factors that could contribute to the acceleration of Iran's nuclear program in 2024. This scenario exercise identified trends and strategic considerations that could inform real-world policy planning |
