This film explores the use of virtual reality exposure therapy in the treatment of combat related Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Cognitive behavioural therapy helps individuals with PTSD face and accept traumatic memories, thus reducing some of the debilitating symptoms associated with PTSD. Virtual reality assists in this by simulating the sight, smell and sounds involved in combat situations, re-exposing the individual to the trigger event(s) and memories at the root of their traumatic experience in a safe and contained clinical environment
