Summary This case study presents insights from original research that is interdisciplinary and blends theories. The case study is focused on research on the putative relationship between sectarianism and Catholic schools in Scotland. The research methods included historical analysis of primary documents, Social Science theory, and education. The case study explores a number of very relevant issues in researching and presenting research: justifying and creating new definitions and reconceptualizations; accessing large-scale historical resources that are not on-line and have to be accessed in a library; and issues in time management and the time limited nature of some Social Science research and structuring research outputs
