"The University of Chicago's new Center for Policy Study undertook as its inaugural project, a year-long examination of China. The China project began in March 1966, with a series of seminars, public lectures and less formal meetings held on the average of once a month with the support of the New World Foundation. The series culminated in February 1967, with two five-day conferences supported by the University. The first was devoted to "China's Heritage and the Communist Political System" and the second to "China, the United States and Asia" -- Page v, volume 1, book 1 |
