Summary Demand for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in Malaysia has been growing extensively, involving various involvement from industry and academia. Research related to the improvement of TVET in Malaysia, as well as the sustainability of TVET especially in the Industrial Revolution 4.0 era are among the topics of interest presented in this book. The input from this research provides better insight on the current situation of TVET in Malaysia as a whole, opening up various research fields to be explored in the future by other researchers. The development of education on an international level has sparked the idea for educators and academia to find solutions on issues of education relevant to the 21st century, hence this book shares the strategies and efforts needed to strengthen the education in various regions and make sure it is on par with education in developed countries
Notes Dr Nur Hazirah Noh@Seth is senior lecturer in the department of Technical and Engineering Education, Faculty of Social Science and Humanities, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. She completed her Ph. D in Mechanical Engineering in 2017. She has industrial experience working in the oil and gas sector as part of the shutdown team in various shutdown projects in Malaysia. Her current research interest are in the area of engineering education, vocational education, welding technology education, and non-destructive testing education. Dr. Norah Md Noor is senior lecturer in the department of Science, Mathematic Education and Multimedia Creative, Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM). She completed her Ph. D. at UTM in Educational Technology in 2015. Her research interests are in the area of educational technology, online learning, video-based learning and game-based learning. She has been a guest editorof theJournal of Engineering Science and Technology (JESTEC) for a special issue in 2018. Dr Mahyuddin Arsat graduated from Aalborg Universitet, Denmark in 2014. He has been awarded with a Doctoral Degree in the field of Engineering Education. Working for several years in the field of Education for Sustainable Development has driven him to embrace the ideas of being holistic, balance and equity. He is actively involved in promoting the concept of Sustainability and Education for Sustainable Development in faculty and university level. He has a high interestin research related to ESD, including in the context of engineering education and technical & vocational education, innovation of teaching and learning, application of green engineering design and research that focusonthe impact of engineering activities towards local community and environment. Dr Dayana Farzeeha Ali is senior lecturer in the department of Technical and Engineering Education, Faculty of Social Science and Humanities, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. She completed her Ph. D. in Technical and Vocational Education from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia in 2013. Her research interest is in the area of technical and vocational education and training, visualization skills and community development and education. Recently, her research explores how technology impact teaching and learning in engineering education field. Dr. Dayana is also actively involved in community development activities and currently works on an autism and education program. Dr Ahmad Nabil Md. Nasir is senior lecturer in the department of Technical and Engineering Education, Faculty of Social Science and Humanities, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, where he has been a faculty member since 2009. Dr. Ahmad Nabil Md Nasir completed his Ph. D. at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia in Technical & Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in 2016. His research interests are in the area of skilled workers, technical and vocational and training, teaching methods, and global teacher competencies. Dr. Nur Husna Abd Wahid is senior lecturer in the department of Technical and Engineering Education, Faculty of Social Science and Humanities, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia where she has been a faculty member since 2006. Dr. Nur Husna completed her Ph. D. at Pennsylvania State University in Workforce Education & Development in 2016. She graduated from University Putra Malaysia (previously known as Malaysian Agriculture University) in 2005 with a Bachelor Degree in Science majoring in Microbiology. In 2010 she completed her Master's Degree in Technical and Vocational Education (agriculture education) from the same University. Her research interests are in the area of agricultural education, technical and vocational and training, teacher preparation, and global teacher competencies. Recently her research explores how diversity in ethnicity, culture, language, and socioeconomic class impact teaching preparedness in technical and vocational education. Dr. Nur Husna international/global learning experience includes her involvement as the Global Teach Agriculture Initiative Visiting Scholar (2013-2016) at the Department of Agricultural Economics, Sociology, and Education, Penn State. Dr. Yusri Kamin is currently Associate Professor and Director of the Department of Technical and Engineering Education Department, School of Education, Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. He obtained a Bachelor degreein Technology with Education (Mechanical Engineering) and a Master degreein Education with Specialization in Technical and Vocational Education) from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia and PhD (Technical and Vocational Education) from La Trobe University, Melbourne Australia. Among the positions that he held were Head of Department Technical and Vocational and Academic Manager for External Program. He is actively involved in conducting research on Developing Model of Preparing Mechanical Program at College Vocational In Malaysia, students preparedness for the workplace in mechanical, work-based learning, employability skill, generic green skill and scenario-based learning. In addition he has written numerous papers and presented at national and international conferences and seminars. Yusri is also a reviewer for the Journal of the Asian Academic Society for Vocational Education and Training (JAVET), Journal for Technical and Vocational Education Malaysia, and panel of assessor for Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA). He is ex-president of the Association of Technical and Vocational Education Malaysia (2015/2017)
