Fenella Kernebone looks at 'art+soul', the Indigenous contemporary art exhibition at the Art Gallery of NSW; 'Guilty Pleasures' features Richard Gill; and songstress Mama Kin performs her latest release 'To My Table'.This week on Art Nation, Fenella Kernebone hosts the program from the Art Gallery of NSW's new exhibition art + soul. art + soul is a collection of contemporary Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander art and features some groundbreaking works. It has been curated by the gallery's senior art curator, Hetti Perkins. Perkins has also written a three-part documentary series art + soul, which airs on ABC1 from this Thursday. Art Nation also reveals Up Close, a series of intimate portraits featuring people on the margins of society by celebrated photographers Carol Jerrems, Nan Goldin, Larry Clark and William Yang. Documenting periods of sexual liberation and the extremes of life on the edge, these works paint an evocative image of time, place and identity. In Guilty Pleasures, where well-known faces admit to their 'secret shame', it's the turn of Richard Gill.And to close the show, sassy raconteur and soul songstress Mama Kin performs her latest release To My Table |
