Description 1 online resource (60 min.)
Summary Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women in the United States. Based on lifetime probability estimates from the National Cancer Institute, the risk is one in seven that a woman living in the United States will develop breast cancer. Although breast cancer typically affects women, men are at risk too. Techniques of early detection allow physicians to manage patients when survival rates are highest. In this program, Dr. Rosenberg discusses identification of patients at risk for developing breast cancer, reviews the most effective methods and appropriate timing for screening patients, and describes the symptoms of breast cancer. She also discusses current efforts in breast cancer prevention, the various stages of the disease, local and systemic therapies, and prognosis of patients with breast cancer
