Summary |
This study of customers' views of Australian management examines the performance of Australian managers in the Asia-Pacific region. A telephone survey of 502 Asian business executives was conducted in five key regional customer countries - Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Taiwan and Japan. This was supported by personal interviews and focus group discussion. The findings of this study indicate that Australian managers are viewed poorly by their Asian colleagues in comparison to their key competitors on all levels. The overall objective of this study, therefore, was to identify the views of regional customers of Australian management skills relative to those of our competing trading nations. Specific objectives for this study were: 1. to establish which dimensions of management skills are important to regional customers; 2. to compare Australian management skills on these dimensions with those of major trading nations active in the region; and 3. to prioritise key areas for improvement if Australia is to become a valued member of the region |
