Summary |
Welles shot his first Shakespearean project for the screen in just 21 days in the summer of 1947 on a Western backlot of the small 'B' studio Republic, producing a far more cinematic reworking of his subject than Olivier's contemporary and relatively conventional Hamlet. Through inventive use of camera, lighting, sets and music, Welles created a hellish world that reflected Macbeth's tortured state of mind |
