Summary |
"In 1509, 17-year-old Henry VIII was crowned King of England. His sunny and romantic personality was the opposite of his father's and it promised a fresh start for England - though no-one could have guessed how radical he would prove to be. One of his first acts as King was to marry his brother's widow, the Spanish Princess Catherine of Aragon, cementing England's alliance with Spain against France. Catherine was also the aunt to the young and ambitious Hapsburg Emperor, Charles V" -- website |
