Summary Beyond the many elements that make up a building's appearance, its physical preconditions remain the most important: those which hold the building together and keep it standing. Buildings are subject to fundamental and immutable laws that impose shapes, patterns, orders and constraints. The Bones of Architecture examines the cultivation of structures at the service of architecture. Seven European architects and engineers present their works and individual approaches, reflecting upon rules, strategies and methods in structural design. Three projects have been chosen for each of them to both demonstrate and explore various design strategies. This panorama is supplemented by interviews with the three representatives - Rui Furtado (Porto), Bruther (Paris) and Brandlhuber+ (Berlin) - and essays from Ákos Moravánszky and Mario Rinke
