Dateline follows Perth mother Danica Weeks through the most difficult year of her life - not knowing what happened to her husband Paul or how to explain it to their two young children.'Where's daddy?' is a question she's now used to hearing from their two young children, Jack and Lincoln, but she has no answer for them.He was one of the 239 people on board flight MH370 when it vanished between Kuala Lumpur and Beijing in March last year.Twelve months on, she describes to Dateline the agony of not knowing what happened and her fight to find out the truth."This why, what, when, how, is just a constant, constant in your life," she tells reporter Alex de Jong on Tuesday's program."How do you lose a plane? It's impossible... It's just so unfair that they just won't tell us, and we're stuck here."By a twist of fate, Perth is now the base for the huge search 1,800 kilometres off the WA coast. The plane is believed to have crashed in the ocean, way off course, in one of the deepest, most remote and unexplored areas of the world."We're determined to put in the maximum, the best possible effort, and if the aircraft is where we think it is, we're confident we can find it," Deputy Prime Minister Warren Truss tells Dateline. He and the experts coordinating the search explain the complex operation on Tuesday's program, and say they're determined that they will find the plane."[It's] been frustrating, but particularly frustrating obviously for the families, who are seeking information, so that they can have some closure in this incident," Warren Truss says."I just keep going until I have home, whenever that is," Danica tells Dateline. "That's all I want. It sounds just so simple, but it just feels so far away."Will MH370 ever be found? And will Danica ever be able to provide the answers she and her children so desperately need? |
