SAGE Business. Cases
|
Summary |
This case focuses on Alin Food Products Ltd., a company that exports processed food from Bangladesh to Saudi Arabia and other Middle Eastern countries. The case highlights the company's operations in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), a hub for expatriates, and its neighboring countries. Although the profit margins in the export food business are high, the competition faced by Alin Food Products is fierce, the target market (i.e., consumers) are price-sensitive, and reforms to KSA regulations are forcing the company to reevaluate their standing in the Middle East. These are serious challenges for Alin Food Products as the company has invested (i.e., procured warehouse facilities) in the Middle East and spent considerable effort and money on building a stable distribution network. Although the neighboring country of KSA is slightly better off, the question of whether to stay or move to other markets--albeit those with established competitors--is a serious issue. Students will be asked to evaluate the pros and cons of entry modes and address their challenges |
