Summary "Kevin McCloud revisits an innovative housing association’s scheme in Birmingham. A group of 11 men and women agreed to build, not just their own, but each other’s homes. This group of first time builders are on a tight schedule and even tighter budget. This multi-cultural group of self-builders who are on low or assisted incomes would not otherwise be able to afford their own home. The group has to work as a team, with everyone doing 20 hours a week on site. Each person had chosen to specialise in one skill: bricklaying, plumbing, carpentry, electrics, and they work on each other’s houses in turn. The build goes through various challenges - vandalism, job and family issues, energy levels and morale drop during the winters and the team struggle to put in the hours expected on top of a working day. Kevin revisits the properties one year after completion to see how the residents now feel in their new homes."-- ABC1 website
