Anhand von konkreten Baubeschreibungen und -analysen werden verschiedene architektonische Konzepte in ihrer historischen Entwicklung aufgezeigt und in ihrem theoretischen Fundament verortet. Die architektonische und die moralische Dimension der Rekonstruktion werden getrennt. Die Frage ist nicht, ob Rekonstruktion zulässig ist, sondern unter welchen Voraussetzungen welches Konzept der Rekonstruktion sinnvoll sein kann.
