Summary |
As the presence and acceptance of online shops increase (with Facebook being the most common platform in Bangladesh), so does the number of competitors that offer similar products. This case focuses on and highlights a specific online jewelry shop (The Purple Box), how their original creations and designs were copied and reproduced, and how they eventually sought patent protection for their work. Although patent and copyright laws do exist and are enforced in Bangladesh, many people do not understand them and others ignore them completely. Some of the latter include many sellers of products and services; thus, IP violations of patents are common. Student will be asked to assess the various types of intellectual property (IP), how these various types of IPs are enforced, how they are violated, and how these acts can affect businesses, especially in online platforms |
