SAGE Business Cases
|
Summary |
This case promotes discussions about blockchain technology and cryptocurrencies usage in activity tracking as a possible means to enable disintermediation. It first provides an overview on the steps required to install a Digital Wallet. Second, it provides an explanation of the need to add cryptocurrencies to be able to interact with the blockchain. Third, it presents an overview of cryptocurrencies creation using smart contracts. Fourth it shows how to transfer created tokens from one person to another. Fifth, it explains how to use the created currency as a means to track, and audit, performed activities using the blockchain as a public ledger in lieu of dealing with an intermediary to track activities. As an example, the case presents three roommates who decided to create, and use, a cryptocurrency to track cleaning activities within the common living areas in their shared apartment instead of depending on an intermediary to track their activities |
