60 Minutes discusses a chemical spill that occurred on July 26, 1993 in Richmond, California, a suburb of San Francisco. Sulfuric acid was accidentally released by General Chemical workers unloading a railroad car. A toxic cloud drifted over residential neighborhoods and panic occurred. While 99.5% were not injured, lawyers and agents moved in and urged people to sign lawsuits against General Chemical regardless of whether they were hurt or not. Morely Safer reports
