Belgium's bendiest choreographer went from vogueing his way to first place in a dance contest to mixing ballet, jazz and offbeat moves in shows the world over.Bel Air have made this documentary film about Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui who in 10 years has become a world-ranking choreographer whose work is presented everywhere.In four locations, China, India, Corsica and Antwerp, we discover one of the most prolific and appealing personalities of the contemporary dance scene. In the course of interviews in each of these sites, Cherkaoui reveals his passion for dance, his interest in spirituality, his homosexuality, his childhood, his family, etc. Babel and his most successful work, Sutra, designed by the sculptor and visual artist Antony Gormley, have recently been performed at Sadlers Wells." |
