Summary In this brand new five-part series, award-winning chefs and old friends Tony Singh and Cyrus Todiwala set out to spice up home-cooking. It's a sad fact that too often spices gather dust at the back of the kitchen cupboards, with home cooks lacking the knowledge and courage to use them. Now Cyrus and Tony want to change all that, travelling across Britian to show how spices can make British food even more delicious - they're on a mission to spice up Britain!Cyrus and Tony are madly, infectiously patriotic. They love Britain; even the weather, which they believe creates the best produce in the world. But they think many Brits are missing a trick and could learn a thing or two from the myriad food cultures that make up the twenty-first century nation. So they're taking on some British classics and adding a twist: fish & chips with cumin, coriander and chilli!; Sunday roast chicken with a turmeric, cinnamon, honey and lime rub; roast pork marinated in ginger, cassia, cumin, and cloves; and bread and butter pudding with cardamom. In each show they travel to a different region of Britain in their spice-filled vehicle. This episode, their journey begins in Tony's hometown of Edinburgh. Ever keen to showcase the best of Scottish produce, Tony makes Cranachan - a traditional desert made with Scotland's finest honey, raspberries, oatmeal and whisky enveloped in double cream. But for his 'Cranachan with a Wee Twist', Tony infuses the honey with sensuous, aromatic cardamom and adds a splash of fragrant rose water. Next, it's Tony turn to spice up a national institution, the Scotch Pie. His 'McSingh's Scotch Pie' is given extra kick with cumin seeds, coriander, mace and green chilli, which he takes to the Hibernian Football Supporters Club to see how their spicy pies go down.
