Summary 1. Following a decade of strong growth, the Jordanian economy has slowed considerably, largely due to the global and regional downturn. Annual real GDP growth averaged about 6 percent between 2000-08, supported by the implementation of sound economic policies and favorable external conditions. Consistent with the global economic slowdown, output growth in Jordan fell sharply in 2009, and economic activity is expected to pick up modestly in 2010, in line with the recovery of key regional trading partners
