Summary |
The Carson Center for Instruction of English (CCIE) is a fictional institutional language program affiliated with a small, private, rural college in the southern Midwest. International students at the CCIE take non-credit-bearing English language courses to prepare for university instruction. However, due to internal, national, and international factors, student enrollment has been rapidly declining in recent years. Federal immigration rules limit the program's ability to adapt its services. The employees at the CCIE previously enjoyed a warm, familial working environment, but the organizational culture has been deteriorating with the mounting financial pressure of systemic enrollment problems. Students will need to decide how they would approach the organization's dilemmas with the given constraints and on which primary problem they should focus |
