"Part 1D of the Crimes Act 1914 (the 'Crimes Act') was enacted in 1998 to allow the collection and use of forensic material and DNA profiles for law enforcement purposes. After the Bali bombings of 12 October 2002, it was recognized that Part 1D could not facilitate disaster victim identification (DVI) and Division 11A was inserted by the Crimes Act Amendment Act 2002 (the 2002 Act)." -- p.[1]
