This history presents the 85 year development of Mentone Girls' Grammar School from a small private school of the Victorian era to a modern, well respected independent school of the 1980's. The story is based on an historical study prepared for a Masters thesis. It presents a detailed view of the changing aspects and emphases of education for girls in Victoria, and the intricacies and challenges of private school ownership. Within the scope of this book, insights are offered to the ordinary lifestyle of suburban Mentone during this period
