Summary The main scope of the Ninth Japanese-Mediterranean Workshop on Applied Electromagnetic Engineering for Magnetic, Superconducting, Multifunctional and Nanomaterials (JAPMED'9) is to exploit synergies in technological advances concerning innovative materials and improved design optimization methodologies in the frame of concrete applications by bridging the gap amongst the respective scientific communities. The aims are to create appropriate links for the participants to share knowledge and experience and for the cross-fertilization of new ideas and developments in applied electromagnetics, design, analysis, new material utilization, from macro-, micro-, to nano-scale and optimization techniques including applications related to biomedical engineering, superconductivity, ultraprecision engineering, nanotechnology, energy and environment. Topics related to practical applications, operation, maintenance are also highly encouraged. Computational Electromagnetics, Advanced Magnetic Materials, Superconductivity, Nanotechnology, Multifunctional Materials, Magnetohydrodynamics, Biomedicine, Renewable Energy Applications, Electric Actuation and Traction Materials Science
