Summary Risk management is a process used in industry since the middle 1900s. The possibility of identifying risks, assessing them as well as treatment options has been used as an opportunity to use risk management in the emergency management field. In this text the author proposes the use of this methodology in the Emergency Medical Services field. The use of this methodology, combined with the research methods already in use, and known information about useful strategies in this field, might led to a creative and rapid improvement methodology that possibly will lead to innovative improvements in Emergency Medical Services related organisations. This methodology can be used at many levels and in organisations of different sizes and with different roles among the EMS system
