Summary |
Renowned psychological illusionist, performer, writer and UK television personality Derren Brown returns with his two-part special: Derren Brown: Fear and Faith. Derren demonstrates his unique and almost uncanny ability to misdirect, manipulate and mesmerise. These elements are combined with tested psychological experiments to take a deeper look at human behaviour and reaction, and how easily behaviours can be manipulated.Fear and Faith is an extraordinary show which looks at what happens when people have the experience of fear removed through the use of what they believe is a powerful new drug.Derren sets up a fake pharmaceutical company, 'Cicero Pharmaceutical Solutions', which claims to have developed a drug named 'Rumyodin', with the ability to inhibit fear. In actual fact, the pill is a placebo that is merely sugar. The placebo effect, amplified by the convincing facade of Cicero, helps most of the subjects of the fake clinical trial of Rumyodin overcome their fears. Positive effects from the subjects of the experiment include quitting smoking and allergy relief.
