Summary This week Louis Theroux goes in search of enlightenment, following in the footsteps of thousands of Westerners, he travels to India, land of spirituality, where he hopes to find the meaning of life.In Goa, Louis hangs out with old hippie, Deepak, who takes him to an energy workshop led by Italian guru, Chidvilas. Deepak also teaches Louis the techniques he was taught from his days with the Osho commune, and Louis tries a screaming and heavy breathing meditation he's told will help free his mind. It leaves him feeling dizzy, but encouraged to continue his search.Louis then meets an American-born guru called Gordon whose followers throw themselves at his feet, as well as Sri Ganapathi - an Indian swami with magical powers who materialises objects out of thin air.Louis befriends Mike, a regular visitor to the ashram, and together they manage to get an audience with Swami G. But it is an Indian woman called Amma who most impresses Louis. Hundreds of thousands of people across India believe a simple hug from Amma has changed their lives. Louis joins a huge gathering of devotees and waits in line for his holy hug. Whether it is the lateness of the hour or the crush of the crowd, when it is Louis's turn to be hugged, something strange happens inside him....PRODUCTION DETAILS:Louis Theroux's Weird Weekends is a BBC Production
